Reasons to Apply Early Action to Illinois Applying to college can be overwhelming when it comes to all of the dates, deadlines, and procedures. When applying to Illinois, there are 2 time frames in which you can apply, Early Action or Regular Decision, and I highly recommend that you apply Early Action if possible. So lets break down some of the frequently asked questions and benefits of applying Early Action to Illinois: What are the benefits of applying Early Action? Students who apply Early Action are given priority during our review process. You are given priority consideration for admission to your major and for all scholarship opportunities on campus. There is no downside to applying Early Action. When do I need to submit my application by? November 1st. While the application will remain open until January 5th, students who apply between November 2nd and January 5th are considered Regular Decision applicants. This year, if you apply before October 15th, you will also receive 3 free tickets to an Illinois football game! Is Early Action the same as Early Decision? Nope! Early Action is a non-binding agreement. If you apply Early Action, you are not obligated to attend Illinois. Ultimately, you have until May 1st to accept or decline your offer of admission. When will I get my decision? If you apply Early Action, you will be notified on December 13 of your admission decision. Regular Decision applicants do not find out their admission decisions until early March. Im retaking an ACT or SAT this fall and I wont have my test scores back before November 1st. What should I do? Still apply Early Action! To complete your application, we only need 1 test score on file from you. If you are still planning on taking an ACT/SAT this fall, as long as we receive your additional test scores before we release decisions, they will be taken into consideration with your application.
